Beef Stroganoff
This recipe will serve 4 people
Ingredients
2 Tablespoons of oil
2 Rashers of bacon, chopped
1 Onion, chopped
2 Cloves of garlic, crushed
500g Topside steak, cut into strips
45g Butter
250g Sliced mushrooms
2 Tablespoons of flour
375ml Carnation milk
2Tablespoons of Brandy(optional)
2 Teaspoons of French mustard
1 Teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
¼ Cup tomato paste
Salt and Pepper to taste
Method
1. Heat the oil a pan.
2. Add the bacon, onion and garlic and cook over a low heat for 5 minutes
3. Keep stirring occasionally then remove from the pan.
4. Heat the remaining oil in same pan and add the meat.
5. Cook the meat quickly until golden in color and remove from the pan.
6. Melt the butter, add the mushrooms.
7. Cook for approx. 2 minutes then stir in the flour, and cook for a further 2 minutes.
8. Add the carnation milk and the other remaining ingredients, bring to the boil, stirring continuously.
9. Return the onions and the meat to the pan, and simmer for at least another 5 mins.
Note From Grandma
Obviously you make your own choice as to what you are going to serve your beef stroganoff with, I personally prefer to eat mine with creamy mashed potato. This dish is mostly served with rice or pasta though.
